Second Week of Camp - 2024!

By Unruh, Tammy Duvanel

June 24, 2024

Pre-Junior Camp, June 16-20, was directed by Chris Reisen and John Regier, Both are former summer staffers that made the transition to Program Director. Chris just completed his eleventh year as a director, and John has been with him ten of those years.

34 campers attended the first Pre-Junior camp of the season. Pre-Juniors are those who will be in the 4th and 5th grades next year.

Sarah Neher, who led input for the week, shared that the theme for the week was “Linked by Love.” According to Neher, discussions concerned the aspects of how we are connected to each other and to the world by love, emphasizing the common thread of God's love for all of us.

The week was a successful one, with many good reports from campers. John, a camper from North Newton, said he liked swimming best during the week at camp. River play was a favorite activity of Stella, Hesston, and was mentioned by Ryder, Shawnee, as well as one of the best things that was done during the week. Several campers mentioned interest groups were a favorite activity, and Kaylie, Inman, mentioned that making friendship bracelets was a highlight, as well as having time during a small-sized group to write in her journal. And more than one camper agreed with Ben, Newton, who simply said, “Everything. I liked everything.”

Allison Smith, who helped in the kitchen said, “It was a good week. I learned so much about this side of camp.” Volunteering for a week at Camp is certainly a good way to learn new skills as well as make friends and memories.

On the heels of this week comes First Camp. Keep watching for more pictures and more reports!
